Our Story

In 1988, John Bailey was the manager of a shoe store in Las Vegas. He wasn’t looking to start a sweeping company — he was just looking for an opportunity. It came in the form of an old man who cleaned windows for a living.

During a conversation one day, Bailey asked him what kind of business he should get into. The old man looked at him and said, “Have you ever thought about cleaning up parking lots?”

That question stuck with him. Bailey went out and watched a sweeping company at work for a couple of nights in Las Vegas, studying how they operated. After asking around, he managed to land his first contract — $200 a month to sweep a parking lot.

To do the job, he needed a machine. He found his first sweeper, called a “Trailer Vac” — a sweeper mounted onto a trailer, built by a man in Boulder City. It was one of only about six ever made.

“The Trailer Vac was just what I needed to start out. Not only was it a good choice for me just getting started, the fact is, we still have it today and it still works fine after a few refurbishments. Right now we are in the process of mounting it onto another platform and we’ll be sending it back out for a night route somewhere.”

From that one-man operation with a Dodge pickup truck and a pull-behind sweeper, John built Bailey’s Sweeper Service into what it is today through hard work, dedication, and a relentless focus on customer service. The company now operates 17 trucks and serves over 650 local accounts across the Las Vegas valley — from casinos and shopping centres to HOA communities and major events.

More than 35 years later, Bailey’s is still locally owned, still operated by the same family, and still answering the phone with the same motto: Service With a Smile.
